Strange name for a strange band… This Swedish trio plays a great mixture of styles, imagine this: put Vintersorg and Iron Maiden into a mixer, add some doses of progressive rock, some traditional Death Metal, melodic Death Metal and Black Metal, the results… Anachronaeon. This band is one of the most original bands I have heard in the last time, it takes pieces of many bands any different styles and mix it in some unique way, it’s hard to categorize this band, Anachronaeon does not belongs to any musical style, but at the same time belongs to many… this album has a great balance between heaviness and melody, this one is full of emotion and some abstract beauty, when we talk about heaviness this album moves “in crescendo” along the disc, this work start like a Metal/Rock album, but changes it form to a complex mix of Power Metal, Death Metal and even Black Metal but keeping their own sound along the disc. The musical performance is impeccable and all members show their musical skills. The guitar is protagonist; it reminds me sometimes the guitar performance of Eric Ruttan (ex-Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, Alas) especially in his work with Alas. The drumming is varied and versatile, sometimes is the base of a progressive song (with the respective extremely technical performance) and sometimes is the apocalyptic machine gun of a blast beat Death Metal piece (by the way, the drums where recorded live, but sounds perfect). The voices are as versatile as the whole music in this album, those ranges from clean, melodic, mid toned, strong rocking voices (absolutely remarkable!!) to deep Death Metal growls. This album is highly coherent, even though they use many different styles and sounds, they never sound like anybody else (this is a weak point of many style-mixer bands, sometimes sound like a “Frankenstein”…music made with other’s bodies parts…). This album is for any “open-minded” metaller and even rocker listeners, but will certainly irritate some Metal purist…

После чего музыканты сменили своё название на ANACHRONAEON и записали данный материал, который был реализован в 2004 году. "As the Last Human Spot in Me Dies" - получил весьма хорошие отзывы в андеграунде, и после прослушивания сего диска, я также не могу сказать ничего негативного про данный материал. В музыкальном плане я бы описал этот альбом как смесь из мелодичного death и doom metal´a с прогрессивными элементами. Местами материал напоминает творчество Дэна Свано (EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE), особенно чистый вокал. Переиздание "As the Last Human Spot in Me Dies" от лейбла Stygian Crypt выпущено с новым оформлением и ремастеринговым звуком. Напоследок ещё скажу, что на подходе новый полноформатный альбом ANACHRONAEON под названием "The New Dawn", который уже записан и ждёт своего издания.

This third full-length from these 3 creative musicians from Sweden put this band in the worldwide elite of heavy metal (the previous releases are produced under the name HUMAN FAILURE). Yes, the band is more mature here and the proposal to create a emotive heavy metal with influences of power metal and melodic metal are mixed with some atmospheric doom echoes producing a kind of very special metal with clean voices and deep melancholic feelings, Patrik Carlssom is a fabulous guitarist and I listen here some of the most beautiful heavy metal soles of the last years- he is also the vocalist and his voice is incredible – it has a very deep sad feeling inside – sometimes he change the clean form to growls and it is great too. 49 minutes of pure heavy metal groove with creativity and feeling in superb tracks as “Anachronaeon (Where people live in Dreams), “The English Wizard”, “Confessions of a Lost Soul” & Sweet Tears of Redemption”. It is a precious band in a universe of boring metal clones!!!!!

Очень классная шведская банда, и очень даже странно, что она не была подписана до сего момента, учитывая то, что этот альбом был записан еще в 2004 году. Что же. тем лучше и почетнее, что CD “As the Last Human Spot in Me Dies” вышел в нашей стране. Прекрасный инструментарий в лучших традициях NIGHTINGALE, только чуточку потяжелее и великолепных пассажей PARADISE LOST времен Gothic, только чуть более легких и воздушных. Сильный и своеобразный голос очень сильно напоминает голос Дана Свано (EDGE OF SANITY/NIGHTINGALE) и очень странно, что эта похожесть не выводит из себя, а наоборот радует. Очень ровный и атмосферный голос классно ложится на эту мрачную и мелодичную музыку. в которой сплелись многие ответвления качественной Dark/Doom музыки.
Нет, я все же не могу понять, почему этот альбом был холодно встречен музыкальной критикой. Возможно, не многие любят столь прогрессивные стили… ну, черт знает, здешние аранжировки чудесны, а солирующая гитара (+ мелодика) не менее трагична, чем новая KATATONIA. Надеюсь, что этот диск укрепит шаткие позиции группы, а новый альбом будет еще лучше!

It was getting hard to get some info about this band named Anachronaeon, I kept on typing the damn wrong name! Anyway, after a while I managed and got it right, so I was able to get some more info on these guys.

I didn´t know quite what to expect, but I must say this band really surprised me. Their music is simple yet quite catchy and decently performed. I´m not saying they are one of those top bands everyone will hear about, but it´s definitely one of those bands that people say "Anachronaeon? Yeah, I´ve heard of them, pretty cool band!".

It´s not easy to label these guys in terms of genre though. I feel they are a mix of a bunch of stuff, but I guess that if I had to say a style, I´d describe their music as melodic Progressive Death Metal. Pretty weird definition, I know. Well being from Sweden and all, I guess you know what kind of sound you can expect since they are masters over there playing melodic Death Metal.

"As the Last Human Spot in Me Dies" is their latest album, and also their second full-length work. It´s actually a re-release from their demo, but if I hadn´t read about it I´d never guess this was a demo since the music is actually pretty good in every way.
The vocal work here is pretty good, specially the clean vocals, but the best feature about this band are the guitars, really killer material! Like I said before, everything is catchy as hell, so there´s just no way fans of the genre will get disappointed with this band. Awesome stuff!

Относительно молодой шведский проект Anachronaeon, путешествуя хожеными-перехожеными путями-дорожками стиля мелодик-дэт и не предпринимая при этом попыток разведать новые неизведанные тропинки, вероятно, сделал ставку исключительно на красивые мелодии, коими релиз богат просто-таки сверх меры. Это все воистину прекрасно, однако, как видим, этого не совсем достаточно, увы, особенно на фоне большого количества собратьев по стилю. Anachronaeon – детище двух товарищей: Андреаса Экерлинда и Патрика Карлссона, из которых первый отвечает за ударные, второй за все остальное, включая лирику. Через весь альбом проходит чистая двойная вокальная линия, изредка сменяющаяся гроулингом. Вокал нельзя назвать выдающимся – некая неуверенность и нудность в нем определенно присутствует, и ему на помощь очень кстати всегда приходят великолепные мелодии. Первая же после интро композиция "Anachronaeon" содержит очень приятную тему, которая затем обыгрывается и обрабатывается и так и эдак, с разной подачей и на разной скорости – очень красиво и грамотно. Далее все таким же макаром: и вступления, и развития музыкальных тем, и интерлюдии, и прекрасные соло – все в высшей степени интересно и заслуживает только похвалы. Также запишем в плюс отсутствие всяческих новомодных примесей в угоду широким массам – только чистой воды мелодик-дэт. А вот чего остро не хватает – так это мощностей в подаче материала, тяжести, сочности не хватает. И никак не пойму в чем тут дело, то ли чистый вокал так влияет, то ли над саундом поработать следует. Пока, при всех положительных качествах, музыка производит впечатление творения очень и очень талантливой группы, которая в силу каких-то причин не избавилась от налета местечковости. Сами понимаете, при наличии большого количества таких же, а подчас даже и менее талантливых коллективов, чьи труды хочется смаковать, буквально пуская слюну, Anachronaeon светит лишь дурацкий ярлык "второй эшелон". Релиз будет интересен тем, кто, не взирая на местоположение команды на музыкальном Олимпе, запись или подачу материала, способен оценить качественный в композиционном плане материал.«

Этот шведский дуэт (Andreas Akerlind – барабаны, Patrick Carlsson – всё остальное) был образован под названием HUMAN FAILURE, и под этим именем издал несколько демо. После смены названия на ANACHRONAEON было выпущено ещё одно демо, которое и было переиздано российским лейблом Stygian Crypt на CD. Переиздано вполне заслужено – очень качественный атмосферный металл, к которому применимы такие термины как death/black/doom/dark metal. Некоторая суховатость материала лишь подчёркивает довольно невесёлую атмосферу, при этом музыка отнюдь не страдает однообразием. Серьёзным аргументом в пользу этого диска является тот факт, что сходу какие-то прототипы в голову не приходят, то есть мы вправе говорить о некоторой уникальности работы, хотя вообще говорить об оригинальности – абсолютно новых идей нет, но к заимствованию шведы подошли достаточно творчески. Интересная работа.

This is the re-release of Anachronaeon´s 2004 demo. Their previous two demos were released under the name of Human Failure, but the band then changed their name to the more enigmatic Anachronaeon for the recording of their third and final demo, which has been re-released by Russian label Stygian Crypt Productions. Presumably, this will act as an aperitif for their debut full-length, _The New Dawn_ which has already been recorded.
It is to the band´s credit that if I was not aware of its status as a demo, I would not have considered it as one. Firstly, the sound is above decent, and even though it is probably re-mastered, re-mastering alone would not be able to salvage abysmal recordings. Secondly, the cover picture and booklet looks professional and has been designed by Waldemahr Smerdulak, who has provided artwork for numerous Slavic bands, such as Infestum, Arcanar and Karcinoma. (As far as I can tell, his work for this Swedish band Anachronaeon is his first for an act outside Eastern Europe.) Thirdly, it is long enough to be a full-length album. And finally, this is actually pretty damn good, especially as they perform "dark metal", a term which is much abused to refer to a wide variety of rubbish, ranging from HIM styled gothic rock through to the more accessible romantic death/doom hybrids and female fronted projects such as Tristania.
Anachronaeon are none of the above, providing a fairly technical yet melodic and accessible release. The Swedes tend to have an innate ability to meld aggression with melody; however, it doesn´t sound particularly Swedish, but more akin to their Finnish cousins such as Sentenced in their invocation of melancholic melodiousness. Light growls predominate, although the clean vocals are actually competent and sound emotive without being overwrought. There is still much room for improvement, however. The lead guitar draws out some of the most evocative passages ever heard, such as on "The English Wizard", whilst the solo on "The Amulet" is simply superb.
Aggressive, atmospheric, emotive, melodic... all are apt, often simultaneously, and barring a premature break-up, Anachronaeon have a bright future ahead.

Anachronaeon is the exact mix of technical skills and aggression with a good dose of melancholy. Many technical parts are combined on this album with more direct parts over which the vocals are developed. Good melodies are all over the place here and the band uses a main idea that is constantly transformed as in "Tornado" that evolves into new forms adding more pleasure for the listener. The vocals here are clear and they develope memorable lines, interacting really well with the crushing riffs. The sound is raw and muddy, specially on the guitars that sound really heavy and controlled but at the same time with an underground sound, adding a live feeling to the compositions.

In Sweden there is a town named Vasteras and around 2001/2002 there was a band named Human Failure. After two demos the band decided to stop after playing their only live gig, as a opening act for Katatonia. The two remaining members Patrik and Andreas decided to go on as a studioband and named themselves Anachronaeon.
Their first recording was done in 2004 with the demo "As The Last Human Spot In Me Dies" and in 2005 with "The New Dawn". Both recordings are released by the Russian label Stygian Crypt in 2007.
Anachronaeon plays metal with a diversity of styles, raging from death to doom, from dark to progressive. Long duration of the songs and in mid paced. There are breaks to even slower parts but also some rapid ones. But they pay much attention to the melody in the tracks with some dark edges.
Vocals are sang clean but Patrik is doing some grunts too. He is also handling the guitars and he does it very well. Squeezing out melodic riffs and nice extended leads.
These two releases are interesting for progressive metal fans that like the dark doom and death edges.
